Choose the entry point first
Recognition depends on a clear, front-facing view at a natural stopping point. A wall-mounted terminal at a staff entrance usually works better than a wide CCTV view of a busy gate. Check lighting, queues at shift change and where people stand while they are recognised.
Enrol staff with consent and a clear purpose
Tell staff what is recorded, why, who can see it and how long it is kept. Enrol each person with good-quality photos, record consent, and remove their data when they leave. Face data is sensitive personal information and should be used only for the stated attendance purpose.
Connect attendance to HR and payroll
Agree how records leave the system: a daily export, a payroll file format or an integration with your HR software. Define how missed punches, visitors, contractors and staff working at several sites are handled before the first payroll run.
A common question
Can face recognition attendance work with our existing CCTV cameras?+
Sometimes, but dedicated terminals are usually more reliable. CCTV cameras are often mounted too high or too wide to see faces clearly. Test a real entry point at shift change before deciding.
